NYC has always been a popular destination for foreigners, whether it be as tourists or investors in Manhattan real estate. However, it has been almost two years since foreigners have been freely permitted into the U.S. So, while the city's economy and real estate market are very much in recovery, the absence of foreign consumers has prevented the recovery from reaching its full potential. However, it seems this absence is now coming to a very welcome end. The Biden administration just announced that foreigners who are fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus may begin to re-enter the U.S. as of November 8th. We expect this will have a very positive impact on both the economy (through increased tourism) as well as on NYC's real estate market. While this development will directly drive sales in the high-end condo market, rising prices in one segment of the real estate market generally lifts prices across all segments, and so we expect all owners will be the beneficiaries of With Q3 sales already 3x higher than last year, the highest quarterly total in more than 32 years, we can’t help but wonder… Will the return of foreign buyers ignite a buying frenzy? What do you think?
