Welcome to 2019! To kick off the new year, we are very excited to announce another new member of our team, Pete Holmberg.

Pete has lived on the East Side of Manhattan for 27 years. He began his career in Real Estate in 2017, focusing on Upper East Side rentals, after decades in Public Relations. Pete has friends everywhere and fun stories from every corner of this town. In addition to running for public office and having a character named after him on Gossip Girl, he's held senior management positions at corporate PR firms, The New York Palace Hotel, and The Plaza Hotel. A keen observer of the role emotion plays in any business transaction, Pete blogs about "The Emotional Side of New York Real Estate" at York24.com.

Greenwich West

Greenwich West, one of several new developments transforming Hudson Square (an area just west of Soho), has launched sales of its 170 apartments. Construction is currently underway on the 30-story condo tower located at 110 Charlton Street and slated to be finished in 2020. When complete, the 290-foot skyscraper will be one of the tallest buildings in the immediate area. Apartments at Greenwich West range in size from studios to three-bedrooms, including multiple penthouses, with prices starting at $965,000.

Parisian designer Sebastien Segers is responsible for the interiors which include European white oak floors throughout, Carrara marble in the kitchen and master bath, and marble-clad window sills. Amenities include a rooftop terrace and lounge, a 24-hour attended lobby, automated parking, a Wright Fit fitness center, children’s playroom, and bicycle storage.

Shonda Rhimes buys Upper East Side penthouse with wraparound terrace for $11.75M

High powered TV executive Shonda Rhimes is the new owner of a penthouse in an Upper East Side Rosario Candela-designed co-op building. The two-bedroom apartment underwent a two-year renovation and was asking as much as $14.75 million in March 2018. In June, the price was reduced to $12.5 million, however, property records indicate that Rhimes ended up paying $11.75 million for the space.

The highlights of the penthouse include an expansive corner living room with double exposures, wraparound terrace, a formal dining room with a wood-burning fireplace, an office, an eat-in chef’s kitchen with custom cabinetry, a pantry, bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and custom fitted closets throughout.

Misi

Missy Robbins recently opened her second restaurant, Misi, the follow-up to her popular Williamsburg Italian restaurant Lilia.  The menu at Misi offers 10 kinds of pasta, all made in-house in a glass-enclosed pasta room off the dining room. Our favorites include the spinach and mascarpone filled tortellini and the chickpea pappardelle.

Hall

Hall is an all-day Japanese (with European influences) bistro in Flatiron from Hiroki Odo, a former chef at Michelin-starred Kajitsu. Hall offers dishes ranging from early morning breakfast pastries to late night washugyu meatball sandwiches.

GupShup

Located in Gramercy, Grupshup offers modern Indian food in an opulent space. The menu consists of fusion dishes such as an Indian take on ramen with a tomato rasam broth or roasted bone marrow with five-spice naan. Owner Jimmy Rizvi’s goal is to create a highly stylish and fun atmosphere, with live music, DJ’s, and other performances.

"Living Color"

Pantone recently announced “Living Coral” as the color of 2019.  The shade, part orange, part pink, is a warm and welcoming one that adds life and playfulness, according to Jeffrey Beers, founder and CEO of Pantone. The 2019 color’s interior design applications can vary from decorative furnishings and art, to upholstery and fabrics, or even lighting. A quick and simple way to incorporate the color into your home is through accent paint or accessories.
