With the beautiful weather upon us, there's simply no better time to get out and explore New York City! There are so many wonderful options, it took a while to whittle them down, but here is our top five places to go in NYC with or without kids this summer:

1) Governors Island  Opening today, May 1st, accessible by ferry and boasts the largest slide in New York (check out the bike rentals, mini-golf, zip-lining and much more!)

2) Victorian Gardens Opening May 25th, an old-fashioned amusement park in the middle of Manhattan with a mini roller coaster and even a Whac-a-Mole!

3) The Vessel at Hudson Yards It has people of all ages talking about it. Some love it. Some intensely dislike it. Check it out for yourself (and if you bring the kids, they'll be excited to  take the perfect posting pics for "Insta" while getting some exercise too!)

4) Domino Park  Less than a year old, a 1/4 of a mile along the Williamsburg Bridge, this  former site of the Domino Sugar Refinery, features displays of vintage factory equipment. The park also boasts a playground, dog run, volleyball court and bocce ball court.

5) Pier 62 Carousel This 36' wonder opens to a sprawling lawn ideal for a picnic! (West Chelsea, cross over at 22nd Street, and climb aboard!)

35 Hudson Yards

35 Hudson Yards, the second residential tower (the first being # 15) at the Hudson Yards mega-project, just launched sales. The tower will consist of 143 apartments which will begin on the 53rd floor. Prices in the building start at $5 million for a two bedroom and go as high as $27.75 million for a half-floor 5 bedroom apartment. In addition to the residential portion of the building, 35 Hudson Yards will be home to office space and a hotel operated by Equinox.

The building will feature a suite of amenities including a dedicated fitness center, screening room, kids' playroom, and conference rooms. Additionally, the residences will have access to all the amenities of the Equinox hotel (including Soul Cycle). 35 Hudson Yards is close to completion and residents are expected to start moving in this Fall.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski buy $11M Brooklyn Heights condo

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski just bought a full-floor apartment at the former Standish Arms Hotel in Brooklyn Heights for $11 million. They purchased two adjacent units and are planning to combine and design their dream home.

The former Standish Arms Hotel is also home to Matt Damon who recently purchased the penthouse in the building for $16.75 million. In May 2018, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski sold their 5,200-square-foot Park Slope townhouse for $6.5 million.

HŪSO

Marky’s on Madison is a new caviar shop at 1067 Madison Avenue, near East 81st Street. The space is divided into two sections, a retail portion in the front and an upscale cafe called HŪSO in the back. The 12-seat cafe has an a la carte menu during the day and switches to a $200 tasting menu in the evening. Daytime a la carte dishes are priced from $20 to $45 and include beef tartare paired with the company’s Russian osetra caviar and an Alaskan King crab roll. Nightime dishes include wagyu beef with black truffle, and caviar.

Crown Shy

James Kent (formerly at Eleven Madison Park) and Jeff Katz (managing director of Del Posto) just opened Crown Shy in the Financial District, a new American restaurant with global influences. The menu includes dishes like white bean hummus with nduja and puffed bread, glazed farro, bone marrow and charred octopus with red rice and morcilla. The dessert menu is not to be missed and includes a delicious sticky toffee pudding.

Au Cheval

One of Chicago’s most renowned restaurants has touched down in Tribeca. Au Cheval is known for its simple, classic American-style burger, served alongside a menu of other modern diner dishes such as chilaquiles. The restaurant also features a coffee shop in front called Sawada and a downstairs bar will be opening soon.

Gallery Walls

Gallery walls offer a fun and creative way to hang art in your home. There are no rules when it comes to hanging art. Gallery walls can feature photography, original paintings, and even sculptures. The trick is to frame your pieces right and hang them in groups.
